Publication Ethics

The Journal of Computing and Data Analytics (JCDA), published by Vertex Academic Publishing, is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity. The journal follows the principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other internationally recognized publishing standards. JCDA expects authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members to uphold honesty, transparency, fairness, confidentiality, and academic integrity throughout the publication process.

Originality and Prior Publication

Submitted manuscripts must present original and unpublished work that is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources are appropriately acknowledged and cited. Duplicate publication, redundant publication, self-plagiarism, or simultaneous submission to multiple journals constitutes unethical publishing behavior and will result in rejection or, where appropriate, retraction of the published article.

Research Integrity and Misconduct

JCDA maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, image manipulation, citation manipulation, and any practice intended to mislead readers or reviewers. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software before peer review. Manuscripts with an overall similarity index exceeding 20%, or more than 4% similarity from a single source (excluding references and commonly used terminology), may be rejected at the editors' discretion.

Authorship and Author Contributions

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research. Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, software development, validation, formal analysis, investigation, data curation, visualization, writing the original draft, reviewing and editing the manuscript, supervision, project administration, or funding acquisition.

All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript prior to submission. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all eligible contributors are included as authors and that no inappropriate authorship practices, such as guest or ghost authorship, have occurred. Any change in authorship after submission requires written consent from all authors and approval by the Editor-in-Chief.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the objectivity of the research or editorial process. When no competing interests exist, authors should include the following statement:

The authors declare that they have no competing interests.

Undisclosed conflicts of interest may result in rejection, correction, or retraction of the published work.

Ethical Research Practices

Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable national and international ethical standards. Studies involving human subjects must have received approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board and, where applicable, informed consent must have been obtained.

For studies involving publicly available datasets, authors should clearly identify the data source and ensure compliance with the corresponding terms of use.

Peer Review Policy

JCDA employs a double-blind peer-review process to ensure an impartial, fair, and confidential evaluation of submitted manuscripts. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and are expected to evaluate submissions objectively, constructively, and confidentially.

Editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific quality, originality, significance, and relevance of the submitted work, without discrimination based on nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, or personal beliefs.

Data Availability and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to make the datasets, software, source code, algorithms, and supplementary materials supporting their findings publicly available whenever possible through recognized repositories or upon reasonable request.

Each manuscript should include a Data Availability Statement describing where the supporting data and computational resources can be accessed. Sharing research materials enhances transparency, reproducibility, and scientific collaboration.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Artificial intelligence tools may be used only to support language editing, grammar improvement, formatting, or coding assistance. AI systems must not be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the integrity, originality, or accuracy of scholarly work.

Authors who use AI-assisted technologies during manuscript preparation must disclose their use in the manuscript and remain fully responsible for all submitted content, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions.

Post-Publication Corrections

When errors are identified after publication, JCDA will publish corrections, corrigenda, or errata when appropriate. In cases involving serious ethical breaches, unreliable findings, or research misconduct, articles may be retracted in accordance with COPE guidelines. Retracted articles will remain part of the scholarly record with a clear indication of their retracted status.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently of the publisher and are based exclusively on the scientific merit, originality, and relevance of submitted manuscripts. The publisher does not interfere with editorial judgments or peer-review decisions.

Sanctions

Violations of the journal's publication ethics policies may result in one or more of the following actions:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript. 

  • Retraction of a published article. 

  • Notification of the authors' institution or funding agency, where appropriate. 

  • Suspension of manuscript submissions for a period determined by the Editorial Board, depending on the severity of the violation.

Authors retain the copyright of their published articles. All content published in the Journal of Computing and Data Analytics (JCDA) is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, reproduction, adaptation, and commercial use of the published work in any medium, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the source.
